1979 20 foot Centurion “She’s A Squitter”

Centurion Boats was founded by Rick and Pam Lee in 1976. Their first products produced in Southern California were inboard ski boats and water jet drive boats manufacturer by Warrior Fiberglass Products Inc. Interestingly for several years Centurion even sponsored the Watkins Glen sprint racecourse.  In 2015 the Correct Craft company bought a majority interest in Centurion Boats. So today Centurion manufactures tow boats, wakeboard and Wakesurfing boats and is currently owned by Fineline Industries.

“She’s A Squiter” is truly a classic example of innovation in recreational boating. Although jet dive technology was developed by Sir William Hamilton, a New  Zealander in 1950, public interest peaked back in the late 70’s through the 90’s and jet drives were the thing. Essentially the straight thru (inboard) jets are more efficient, powerwise, than a typical propped boat, because there is nothing hanging below the flat hull to slow things down. Jet pump boating is literally a blast of maximized fun on the water.

In 2024 this hull was advertised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for free and it proved to be pretty rough. Attracted by its gold metal flake John worked over the winter to bring it back to sea worthiness, by replacing the floor, carpet, and gauges. John jokingly named this boat, “She’s A Squiter” which seems more than appropriate for a boat powered by a jet drive.
