1955  15 foot Feather Craft Vagabond II Outboard

Feather Craft, Inc. of Atlanta, GA was founded by W. D.  Knight in 1946 who proclaimed his boats to be Safe, Speedy, Economical & Leakproof. After years of building aluminum boats the Feather Craft Company offered 13 model in its 1955 catalog. Everything from a 22 foot Voyager Cruiser to an 8 foot Dinghy with optional sail package. Their advertising touted a tough, light weight, aluminum skin which was resistant to scrapes and scars.

Mr. Ralph Aldredge’s 15 foot Vagabond design became Feather Craft’s most popular model and was originally only offered in bright aluminum. Today it is an outstanding example of their attention to detail and craftsmanship. Sadly this post war boat manufacturer ceased all production in December 2016

“Polished Off” is a 1955 Feather Craft Vagabond II  barrel back runabout and powered by a Mark 58AE Mercury. I purchased the boat about ten years ago. Aside from tightening rivets and polishing the boat it was pretty complete upon purchase. This boat was originally from Colorado.
