1986 Cigarette 38 foot Flatdeck

“Never Satisfied”

The 38 Flatdeck was designed by Dan Aronow, the famous power boat racer in 1969. The Cigarette Racing Team  dominated off shore racing . Its was produced during the 1980s until 1987 when it was replaced by a later model. With its strong deep-Vee hull and flush deck forward of the windshield, the 38-footer became the symbol of high-performance luxury. Today, Cigarette Boats have an active owners association and this classic boat has an almost cult like following.

This boat was once owned by Art Lilly the founder of Lilly Sportboats  and one of the founding fathers of the Chesapeake Bay Powerboat Association CBPBA. He was considered among the most accomplished boat racers and a successful businessman.

Connor Pierce’s purchase only adds to its history. He first saw it on Facebook Market place, but it was sold before he could view it. Later he saw it again on TicTock and after commenting on the post was asked if he wanted to buy the boat. Which he did and he considers it was fate, but he still had to go to Virginia to pick it up.

Connor reports that its restoration was a family project. His father, John helped him with the interior while he worked on the engines and up graded the controls. It is powered by twin supercharged Mercruiser V-8s producing 525 horsepower. The beautiful uphoistery they decided to sent out . After this restoration work and updating the systems this boat is classified by the Antique & Classic Boat Society as a “Restromod”.

Connor enjoys restoring boats and bringing them back, but he says the name “Never Satisfied” comes from the idea after owning many boats, he‘s still never completely satisfied.
